The gravity dop can be used for variation on a per-dop object basis, but I don't think the gravity dop will be able to affect a per-particle basis.
In any case, I was trying it out by doing stuff like adding a mass attribute ala pops, but didn't get much results out of it. I would love to see how to approach this problem.
may be use prim() function with $OBJID argument

I think in vop you can transfer an attribute from point to point, using import attribute and add attribute, if the point number match.
Try creating "mass" attribute in SOP.
