Dr. D Studios is a digital production studio based in Sydney created by Academy Award winning producers George Miller and Doug Mitchell.

Dr. D has attracted some of the most talented digital artists and technicians from within Australia and around the world to craft fine, entertaining stories.

Currently in production on the animated feature Happy Feet 2, we're seeking people with experience in both CG features and VFX. We are hiring across all departments. In particular we are seeking Houdini experienced FX TDs.

Start: asap until August 2011

Primary responsibilities:

• 
  Participate in and contribute to the early RnD development, testing and creation of VFX assets.
  Develop and innovative believable solutions to challenging and complex problems.
  Use an array of commercial and proprietary software tools to produce photorealistic simulations of real-world phenomena.
  Create working test composites for review by the supervision team.
  Produce tests and delivers final renders of FX elements for a shot.
  Work in partnership with lighters & compositors to ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard.
  Provide solutions and alternatives to creative issues keeping within the style and scope of the film.
  Create software and tools to streamline FX production
  Attend daily reviews and briefings.
  

Strong technical skills are a must, including proficiency with:

• 
  Houdini and Naiad
  RSL, Python, C++ , H-script a plus
  Shader/plug-in writing also a plus
  Good computer skills, particularly with the Linux command line.
  

Experience :

• 
  Senior level TDs must have 7+ years and Mid level at least 3 + years experience with a compositing package , preferably with Nuke
  Understanding of structures of Asset Management Systems
  Ability to anticipate and trouble shoot technical problems and facilitate solutions
  Ability to work within a style including a style set by another artist/art director
  The ability to think clearly and creatively under pressure.
  Willing to share knowledge and experience with others
  

Demonstrated ability to:

• 
  Work without direct supervision
  Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels
  Competently and efficiently complete complex tasks in a timely basis
  Liaise closely with the lighting/compositing departments
  

Measurables :

• 
  Deliver FX elements for shots and trailers to scheduled milestones
  Contribute to delivering the film on time by meeting department deadlines and goals.
  Maintain a positive, motivated and enthusiastic attitude.
