Guest Swann
Hi again, I get this statement libpng error: Not a PNG file every time I run Houdini. What it means and why it's appearing ?
matsbt
I can confirm this as well. Which version of libpng does your system use, 1.2.43 or 1.4.1? I'm running Slackware Linux x86_64 with gcc 4.4.3, glibc 2.11.1 and libpng versions 1.2.43 and 1.4.1 What happens on your system if you set the following environment variable prior to launching houdini: LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib64/libpng12.so I think Houdini is compiled against libpng 1.2, since libpng12.so.0 is present in $HFS/hsvg I'm still getting libpng errors... Anybody else having this issue? Mats Edited April 24, 2010 by matsbt
Guest Swann
Solved this by deleting Config folder (on Win it's in Users\UserName\MyDocuments\houdini10.0 folder) to let Houdini recreate his UI, and then from this deleted folder I copied only files related to shelf tools. Before ths operation I was getting this error even with builds that worked ok before. Edited April 25, 2010 by SWANN
Guest Swann
Ok. I found file that is casing those problems. If I copy "\desktop\Build.desk" from old houdini10.0 folder to this rebuilded new one problem again shows up, if I remove this file it works ok but I have to setup my desktop how I like manually again. matsbt: Try removing file and see what will happen. If it helps I will submitt bug.
matsbt
The Build.desk file is located inside the Houdini installation directory on Linux (i.e /opt/hfs10.0.595/houdini/desktop) If I remove/rename it I loose large parts of the UI, and I still get libpng errors. Maybe it's different on Linux vs Windows...
Guest Swann
Yeah, in Windows it's also located in instalation directory. But you also get global Houdini10.0 catalog outside installation folder that every instalation of Houdini use so even when you install new build it will be setup like your older version and menu things like "open recent files" will be set also even when you heavn't used this build before. You can place there otls etc. that every build share. And there is second Build.desk file. Edited April 25, 2010 by SWANN

Guest Swann
"Windows\Desktop\Save Current Desktop" option from Houdini menu creates it. But You have to use it atleas once.
matsbt
"Windows\Desktop\Save Current Desktop" option from Houdini menu creates it. But You have to use it at least once. Deleting the Build.desk file made no difference what so ever on my Linux system. I also tested and installed Houdini 10.0.595 on my Windows partition and get no libpng errors.
