Akabane
Yo there. I'm actually trying to shade some particles with a similar shading as the Mayas Cloud Particle shader. I thought that i would achieve that by copying some geometry to the particles (say, metaballs or spheres) and then shade those with a volumetric shader. But how do I use something like particle life to set colors etcetera? Something like the particle sampler info node in maya... So: which is the workflow for shading particles like a volumetric entity using particle attributes? Thanks!
pclaes
download the fx shelf and have a look at the heavy smoke, that does pretty much what Maya cloud does, you can open up the asset and plug in your own particle system. The main thing that happens is a look up of the coordinate system to look up the noise applied to each metaball.

pclaes
click on the little "plus" sign next to any of the shelf tabs and in the menu: download shelf
