aelzor
Hi, New to the forums and pretty new to Houdini. I've been playing around and getting somewhat (in the limit of the time i've used houdini) acquainted with houdini. My aim now is to animate a moving elevator. The elevator will move up and down as usual, and whenever it makes a normal stops I want the wires that are attached to vibrate, kinda subtle.. I vibrating wave that passes through the wire and weakens by time. Any ideas about how I should go about to achieve this effect? Thanks. Macha
Not amazing, but it's one idea. wire.hipnc
Macha
And here a DOP wire, but it is hard to control and tweak. wiredop.hipnc
Macha
And here is yet another, easier to use method, just because the problem interest me.

aelzor
Hey, sorry for the late answer, had a lot of work to be done. Anyways, great examples. You seem to be on the same track as me, although I wanted more subtle/weaker vibrations.. I will try these out and work from there. Thanks! How about doing a high frequency wave on the normals only. That could perhaps make a quick hifreq vibration-look during render (motionblur) Edit: velocity vectors, not normals.
