mightcouldb1
The file sop can export .rib files in ascii format, is there a way to export binary directly? Cheers, Jason
pclaes
As far as I know it is not supported at the moment by houdini. You can zip and unzip them, but then they don't work with delayed archives anymore . A custom binary format can help you out, but you'll have to program it yourself or the interfaces to the rib from one of the existing formats on opensourcevfx ( http://opensourcevfx.org/ ). I'm not sure if binary rib is an RFE but if it is, it's an old rfe and hasn't been given any love :/.

You could probably modify the GEOio table entry for .rib to add a catrib call. I don't have houdini to test it, but I feel like that would work well. The file is $HFS/houdini/GEOio and its pretty self-explanatory. Gl dude.

It would seem that there is no .rib extension in GEOio... What is called when the file is output?
