We are looking for experienced artists who work in the Games industry who also know Houdini...hopefully they know it well. We have a technical art director position to hire for, we are also looking to contract several environment artists for temporary work (2 months-ish) who will be using Houdini. Now, I'll paste the job post that our Art Director wrote. Requirements may be softened for someone with Houdini experience. Environment Artist. The Environment Artist will work closely with the Art Director and Technical Art Director to realize photo-real virtual environments in a cutting edge 3D game engine. Will be responsible for creating assets that are optimized for various platforms. Will utilize techniques common in nextGen game art creation including zBrush/Mudbox as well as Max/Maya to create in-game assets that support game design and functionality. Key Activities • Creates 3D assets using Max/Maya, Zbrush/Mudbox, and other art tools and follows game pipelines and workflows, working in conjunction with engineers and art director to create photo-real virtual worlds • Works with the Art Director, and Tech Director to ensure that visual quality is met and performance requirements are maintained. • Help bring to life interactive elements and virtual environments from concept designs. Resume and portfolio must demonstrate proficiencies and excellence in the following areas. Natural environment creation such as trees, bushes, plants, rocks, water and flowers. Hard Surface and structural modeling Attention to detail and the ability to recreate photo-real environments from concept designs and photographs. Strong understanding of shader creation for NextGen games Mastery of lighting and use of color to create moods. Solid understanding of composition and how it relates to level design and layout. Essential Requirements: • Bachelors/Masters/PhD in Digital Media Design, Fine Arts, Graphic Arts, Entertainment Technology or related experience. • 6 years experience in Computer Graphics • 2 years experience on AAA console game development • A strong knowledge of game development software and techniques (e.g. Maya, Max, Softimage, Zbrush, Houdini, Photoshop, Etc…) • An appreciation and balance of both art and design concepts • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
