Other ways of forcing variable mapping

Hello Folks,

I am sure it has been asked many times but i have few additional questions.

1. How to force vaiable mapping at once without putting down an attrib node and explicitly forcing for each of the attibutes class/type.

2. Are atomic functions like point,prim,vertex,details the only way to access them. Or there exist a higher level that can be checked to see it atrribute of any class exist.

I mean something like extendend operator info.

How to access and make a tool which forces it every time when you need it for for an entire class of attributes.

3. Apart from memory and perhaps efficiency what would be other reasons for not having all the attributes preserve their variable mapping by default.

Any thoughts ?
