cmd123
Hi guys, I`m trying to make this L-systems tree look realistic. I`m quite new in Houdini and I can`t get my head around on how to texture it properly. I`ve switched on the "Tube Texture Coordinates" from the l-systems Tube tab, and applied a "Facet" node to the l-systems. I also applied a "Quick Shade" to see how the uv`s are distributed. Though I have a good result the UV`s look a bit distorted in some areas. I can tweak a bit the L systems and get a better distribution but there are still some problems. From what I can see the distortion comes from the L-systems. What can I do in order to fix those twists? http://uploadpic.org/v.php?img=oDsvxhQCge
jim c
There's a video series at CMIVfx called Procedural Roads by Kim Gossens (I think I spelled his name right, he's actually a member here). The first video deals with procedurally creating a road *AND* shows how to generate proper uvs for the road surface. I'd be willing to bet his technique would be exactly what you're looking for.
