csp
Reference Hello, any idea or thoughts how to achieve the cell division effect? It should be something like the first video where cells split in two but it has also to be a repeated process as in the second reference (ignore that are bacteria) where the divided cells keep dividing themselves. I tried few things with pops but as you can see it doesn't work that well. cellstest.hip
JuriBryan
not sure, but I think MetaBalls could be quit help full. you can animate them and if the get close to each other the automatically merge, and it kinda looks like cells splitting.... and if you want to do it with pops... try copying metaballs on the points.... csp
thanks JuriBryan for your reply, but I am already using metaballs as your can see in the attached file. I more concern about the motion/choreograph of the cells .
siepiau
Here's something I came up with based on the recursive particle splitting example in the Houdini Help. I'm using spheres to represent the cells, but metaballs should work with a bit of tinkering. The first dividing pair is a bit of a hack though. Two original overlapping spheres (first set of two particles) are set to die off while the first pair of dividing and interacting spheres are born. Subsequent dividing pairs seem to behave as expected. Hope it helps and looking forward to see you finished product ^^ mitosis.hipnc
