merged metaballs with magnet sop falloff

Hey everyone.

When using a magnet sop on a mesh with only one metaball it produces some great falloff. This produces some great animations, however when i try to shape the metaball by using and merging multiple it destroys the falloff and the animated mesh quickly becomes a mess. Any help?

The attributes of the metaballs are exactly the same as far as I can see on both situations. They have same mode, but different kernel function ( as this creates shapes ). I also tried to use an example with the same kernel function with a mesh converted to metaballs with the isooffset, scatter and copy method.

mmh.. i have some improvements while playing around with all of the attributes, however this will now effectively let me decide what the magnet shape should be. anyone has a good workflow?

it is to create a doorway through a mesh :)
