Mibro
Hey guys, awesome forum! I saw this reel by Jae Hyun Yoo and was blown away. Also there was the effect where the dragons wings created a fiery trail, and at 1:57 there is a breakdown of how it was achieved. I am wondering how to create this traily geometry that slowly deforms from a pop-net, and/or points on a curve. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance Edited June 20, 2013 by Mibro
old school
A lot of way to trail sheets from objects with two common ways: Trail SOP or fixed particle Birth per Frame Trail SOP From your animated object, extract a bit of geometry then construct a line segment from this, resample to a fixed number of points. You can use the Trail to connect the lines (as this is a common thing to do and is exposed as an option) or you can just trail the geometry and use a Skin SOP. Fixed Particle Birth per Frame Similar to the Trail SOP but you replace the Trail SOP with a POP Network SOP with a Source POP set to birth a fixed number of points per timestep. Follow up with an Add SOP to construct lines using a pattern option and then Skin SOP. After that you can build whatever you want on the surfaces. sheet_trail__pops_trail_sop.hip
