Redfangs
So I have been teaching myself Houdini for creation of effects, and I decided to try my hand at a Pyro simulation. I wanted to create a nuclear simulation that was similar to the Desert Rock Nuclear test in the 50s in Nevada. I have included a link on Youtube that is archival footage. The Desert Rock footage served as inspiration and I wanted to try and achieve this look as much as possible. I am using Houdini 12.5 I would be extremely grateful for any critiques, advice, tips on creating more realistic convincing effects. Thanks everyone! Guest tar
What is causation of the shaking camera?
Redfangs
In response to the prevoius post, the camera shake is absent in reference footage, and so I have removed it from the original clip. At the time I was thinking along lines that a nuclear blast would cause some jitter, add more movement to the clip in general. I am also learning to work with forces more, I feel like my original simulation is too uniform. For example, in the reference footage the column of smoke beneath the mushroom cloud is tapered. Also, there almost appears to be "petals" beneath the mushroom part itself. The timing could also use some work as well. These observations I will try and correct, since my knowledge of pyro is still relatively new I am sure there will be a learning curve. I still appreciate any other observations and advice! Thanks for looking! Jitter removed:
