gillsp
I have cached up the geometry, but when I render the foam(590Gb), about 40mil, the mantra: calculating geo/foam starts to eat up the ram, up to 100%(32GB). Anyone has any idea to optimize? Thanks
georgeivan
Have you tried using this https://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini13.0/nodes/shop/vm_geo_file
jkunz07
Yes, Delayed Load will save you a lot of memory. The new packed disk primitives make it really convenient too, as you can just use a file sop with the "Load" parameter set to "packed disk primitive" (This is equivalent to the workflow Jorge suggested) Hard to have any more suggestions without a scene or further details. gillsp
Thanks, I haven't really tried packed primitives or the delayed load, I will take a look into these later. Appreciated.
gillsp
But packprimitives only stores transform, would it be problematic when it comes to render motion blur which requires velocity?
