up4
Hi all, I'm exploring the possibility of using (so-called) "PBR"material databases such as Allegorithmic Substance Database, Quixel Megascans, MERL, MERL/ETH for skin, CSAIL, etc.. Because they are very popular, very comprehensive, and speedup lookdev considerably. There are some cases where they don't work so well, but when they do, they're great. I want to have a shader ready in Mantra in those cases when they do work. Most of them expose their surface models through either GLSL shaders or, in the case of the MERL and CSAIL databases, C code (including Disney's open source BRDF Explorer). I know there has already been awesome efforts by Jim Price, Dany Bittel and Roman Saldygashev (am I missing someone?). I would call for comments and ideas from others interested in this too, especially in the context of the newly released H14 (and the new Substance database and Quixel Megascans releases). What is the current state of affairs, here? Thanks so much, Vincent
