Hi Folks,

If you are interested in taking a break from production and looking to move into higher education, some interesting opportunities are coming up in Ireland. We are looking for someone with industry experience in the area of animation and/or games to come and work with us on both our Animation and Games degree programmes here in the Limerick Institute of Technology.

Education offers a challenging and stimulating working environment with opportunities to develop personal and professional areas of interest. The courses are very new and the positions would give the successful candidate an opportunity to help develop and drive these programmes. The college itself is situated in the south of Ireland on a small and friendly campus with a focused team of lecturers. The staff are a good blend of experienced academics and industry professionals with high end production experience at studios such as Brown Bag Films and Double Negative.

The roles would suit someone who has had a number of years production experience and is looking for a change of life style. If this is something that might interest you, we have two posts that we are looking to fill.

The first position is an animation assistant lecturer role which will focus on teaching in the areas of animation and games. As mentioned above, this post would give the successful candidate an opportunity to help develop current and future courses and help craft the direction of a suite of exciting programmes delivered on campus. Industry experience in the areas of animation and asset development for animation and/or games would be preferred, an interest in technical art and tool development would be beneficial.

The second position is a visual communications assistant lecturer role which will focus on visual development in the areas of animation and games. Again, this post would give the successful applicant the opportunity to develop the direction and content of the visual development aspects of the programmes and help evolve and focus this area of study towards the disciplines of film, animation and games. Industry experience in the areas of art direction, concept design and visual development would be preferred. Experience in general game/animation asset creation would be beneficial.
