Alembic Problem with Normals

Hey Guys,

 

I have created a bunch of collision geometry in Softimage and exported to an alembic file. 

 

The geo come into Houdini without any issues. Before splitting the file into separate geo using a bunch of delete nodes I want to cusp the normals. 

 

If I leave the default 'alembic delayed load primitives' Houdini crashes as soon as I try to change the vertex normals with a facet or normal node.

 

If I use 'Load Houdini Geometry (deprecated)' it does not crash, but all my normals are flipped until I add the normal node.

 

Is this 'normal' behavior ? (lol)

Ya - I see the difference between Houdini and Maya. Interestingly Nuke appears similar to Houdini though, you could send the file in to SideFx to see if it's doing the correct thing.
