melc92
Hi! I was wondering if it's possible to bring a textured set from Maya into Houdini, without having to re-apply the textures in Houdini? As I have made my set in Maya and it's all textured but when I bring it into Houdini, I then have to map them back on so that the buildings will reflect in the water I have set up as a river but the textures don't look as good as they become pretty stretched and tend to look quite grainy. Any help would be great, thanks!
kungFu
I think the uv's are maintained if you export from Maya as an alembic. you have to make sure it's in your options in the export. check them after importing. I'm sure you know this, but you have to scale everything down by 0.1 to match scale of Maya in Houdini. It may also come in packed so you have drop down a convert node to get polys. If the uv's made the journey a simple shader with your texture map should do. If you have a bunch of uv sets on a single object, I'm not sure they will import correctly, but you can have multiple uv sets on object in houdini. james S.
