jackyu00
Hi all, I am rendering a ice cracked scene and I found the refraction is very flicking. Please check the attached movie file. I use a simple envlight with sky image HDR, the shader is based on basicliquid, the render engine is pbr. When I turn off refraction the flicking is gone. How can I fix this? Thanks. refraction_flicking.mov
fathom
it's in the refraction only insofar as the refraction lets you see deeper into your geometry. the issue is either z-fighting of your internal edges of your cracks or ray bias merging your two surfaces in an inconsistent way (because they change distances). make your cracks slightly wider so you don't get interpenetration. drop your ray bias down to see if you can get a better resolution to your internal traces increase your ray bias to skip more edges. backface cull to ensure a single edge intersection give each of those a shot and see if you get better results
jackyu00
Hi miles Thanks for your advice, "backface removal" dose the trick! Thanks a lot
