melc92
Hi! I have a shot that I'm working on, where I have tracked footage and brought it into Houdini. The issue I'm having is that I want to render the shapes without the stairs from Houdini, however if I turn the stair layer off then the stairs won't cut into the shapes like it needs to as the shape is sitting on the step? I know in Maya, you would use a surface_shader for this but I have no idea what the equivalent to that would be in Houdini. I have attached image to show what I mean as I'm not the best at explaining things. Any help at all would be great! Thanks, Mel.
davpe
set the stairs object as an Forced Matte in Mantra ROP (Mantra ROP > Objects > Forced Matte)
zoki
you can also use shadow matte shader on stairs so you get objects shadows on the "invisible stairs" then render objects separate with stairs as phantom>under render tab on geometry node then you should have all to do the comp
