How to Import custom Control Field from SOPs into DOPs

I've created a custom, animated field in SOPs called "box". I would like to import this field into DOPs, and use it at a control field for dissipation & turbulence in my pyro solver. I'm guessing that I have to use the Source Volume node to import it, but when I look at the Drop-down list of "initialize" options, none of them jump out as "This is the one!", as they all appear to have different or more specific uses.

I feel like I'm missing something obvious. :)

EDIT: I figured it out! See next post.

Thanks,

Luke

For those in the future looking to do the same:

(This is done in the context of a smoke/pyro simulation)

We first need to initialize an empty field in DOPs using the Scalar Field or SOP Scalar Field node. We fill out the node's settings accordingly (be sure to set the Field's name at the very bottom of the list of settings - "Data Name"), and wire the output of that node to the right input of an Apply Data node. We wire our Smoke Object into the left input of the Apply Data node, then wire the Apply Data node directly into the far left input of our pyro solver.

Now you can use your custom field however you'd like in DOPs.

This is the first time I've done this, so theres a good chance I'm doing something incorrectly or inefficiently - someone please correct me if need be!

Thanks,

Luke
