punchpunchpoke
Hey Everyone, I'm pretty new to Houdini and had a question about using a Ramp to control the Noise of points scattered on a grid. Currently I've created a ramp on a grid with a point vop and a scatter in the hopes that using the color value of a point could control how much it's moving. I'm not sure if that's the way to go. But any help would be greatly appreciated! and i apologize if this has been covered on another thread..
TheDude
Yep, you got it! Multiply the noise by the ramp you have already linked to the color and add that to its position. That will make your ramp dictate the amount your noise affects its position, and since you got it linked to color (presumably from black to white), you can now remap that amplitude, for example grey being the most affected and white and black not being multiplied by the noise at all to retain the original position.
