StianHalvorsen
Hi everyone, I'm trying to use the Alembic geometry procedural (vm_geo_alembic, in SHOP) to load some attributes (uv, rest etc) onto my animated alembic geometry at render time. In theory this should work, and if I untick "Use Object Geometry" and specify the main alembic file it works. But if I want to use the object geometry it doesn't load the external attributes at all, even though the object geometry only is a standard alembic file node reading in the geometry as packed alembic. Has anyone got this working? Cheers!
StefanN
Please, see this https://www.sidefx.com/forum/topic/48978/ and read post from `jeff` at 11:43 P.m. It might help.
StianHalvorsen
Thanks for reply StefanN! The link you sent me is very nice, but it's about how to deal with outputting geometry. However, my problem is about reading the data/merging the attributes of two alembics a while keeping it as packed geo using the Alembic Geometry Procedural SHOP. I've tested it in many different builds of Houdini to see if it could be a bug, but every time it only works as expected if I select both alembics (the main animation and the static attribute file) in the SHOP procedural. Has anyone been able to get it working, that is to merge abc attributes directly onto geometry defined in the object itself? Thanks, I really appreciate any help!
