i73
Just recently I am unable to save out geo in my Apprentice and load it into Maya. Even looking at an older output of houdinis .obj it seems the way it's created is different: Is this a new thing or have I messed up some setting somewhere? To me this looks like a different file format, but I am saving it as a .obj.
f1480187
"NEW" is not an .obj file, it is either ".hclassic" (Houdini > 11) or ".geo" (Houdini <= 11). Look at the file header description on the old wiki. Edited August 24, 2017 by f1480187

I am currently talking to support and waiting on an email to explain, so I could wait for that.
f1480187
Sorry, missed the text under the picture. If you mistype the file extension ('foo.pbj'), it will be exported in .geo format. If you have HOUDINI_GEOMETRY_FORMAT environment variable set to hclassic, it will be written in the old format. No other ideas. Maybe just a bug. OBJ exporter is working well for me in H16.0.705: export_obj.hipnc
i73
I ended up fixing it, I had to uninstall and manually remove the windows env variables for the HFS and PYTHON_PATH, It must not have had access to some .obj header.
