guache
In Houdini, is there a way to show some custom values as a HUD-type display in the screenspace of the viewport (any viewport, not necessarily cam viewports)? I mean something similar to the framerate display (Display Options->Guides->Additional Info->Show Time) but for custom values. Cyzor
Depending on your needs, it might just be as simple as dragging a parameter into a 3D viewport. That provides a persistent HUD slider that displays current value information. http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/basics/hud_sliders
jkunz07
You can add the 'vcomment' parameter to your camera and use channel references to display parameter values http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/props/viewport#vcomment
ikoon
@jkunz07 this 'vcomment' is great, thank you! Anybody, please, is it possible to set anything similar, independent on camera?
guache
Thanks for the replies. I wonder if there's a way to apply "vcomment" to the virtual viewport camera so the HUD shows up even if there's no actual camera in the scene. jkunz07
This is not possible, there's a hidden camera called "ipr_camera" but it isn't looked thru in the viewport. It is only updated to match the viewport, and then used for rendering if no camera is provided.
