Render Passes

Recommended Posts

hi there people,

i always come to a dead end when its time for rendering passes cos i really have no idea which passes i need to render and how to set them up. i've been searching around the web and in some 3d world magazines but they're not too clear on all the passes i need.

i'm making an underwater environment with a submarine and i have fog and caustics and things like that, but when it comes to rendering everything as seperate passes where do i start? for example texture pass, specular pass, ambient occlusion pass...

if somebody could point me to a really clear tutorial that would be handy also.

cheers
