FLIP To Volume

Hi wizards,

I'm pretty new to Houdini and as I'm learning the software I'm currently stuck on an issue, that's why I decided to post a message here.

The idea is to make an accretion disk around a black hole, my main reference is in this video at 2MIN05 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REa6C9KrgYw&t=125

The black hole will be visible from far away and in close up shots; I'm interested in doing this detailed vortex FX we can see in the video;

 The process I imagined is :

-Doing a FLIP Sim of a Vortex

-Converting it to volume and using this a pyro source to then add detail to the smoke

I'm encountering issue rasterizing the FLIP sim as a volume;

The first thing I tried was to use a classic volume rasterize attributes or a volume rasterize particles or a vdb from particles, but I was not able to use that as a working pyro source because I always have visible voxelisation.

I provide two images to illustrate what I'm talking about:

This is my FLIP Sim

This is the rasterization.

If I drop the voxel size too low I get little dots of density everywhere on the volume (corresponding to the positions of the particles) and I'm trying to get a uniform detailed volume

I'm wondering how can I preserve the fine look of the FLIP sim and convert that to a volume?

I wonder too if the process is a good choice and if I need to think the overall thing differently, because I have a really hard time figuring out how can I get some nice details in the Pyro sim without dropping the voxel size too low..

Thanks a lot for your advises.
