Melissa Jane
Hi, So I'm relatively new to Houdini and I'm trying to copy an attribute from a set of points to a subset of points in a group but I seem to be having a bit of trouble getting it to work. My use case is that I have a 4 different string attributes on my geo on some of the points and a subset of points in a group created from a vertex colour gradient so some of my points in the group have the correct string attr and some do not, this is because the geo is made up of an imported FBX mesh and some procedurally generated geo from splines, the procedural geo I'm able to assign the attribute to. The aim is to be able to break this group of points into a subset of groups based on the string attribute so I need to extend this attr to the other points in my point group, something like what I've shown here. I've tried walking over the points in VEX trying to find the point neighbours and setting the point attribute on the neighbours but I don't think this is the way to go, I just feel like I'm missing a trick here. I've also tried the attribute mirror SOP node but with very limited success. Any pointers on how I can best approach this would be great. Thank You. Melissa.
