Labs Edge Damage - How to use Mask Function??

Hi.  I'm using 18.5 and the Labs edge damage node to make my geo look like it has chipped edges like concrete.  It has a mask function but I cannot figure out how to get it to work.

Mask Attribute

Use an attribute to remove damage.

Can someone please tell me how to get it to work.  Easiest way possible please.  Gotta be a way to remove damage by selecting edges/vertices or painting a mask.

2nd question - It doesn't see to chip all edges.  What drives it?
