Importing external terrain maps into Houdini

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, this is my first post on here so sorry if it is in the wrong place, I have been trying to teach myself houdini whilst I am still in school and I am now starting to create some shots.

I am trying to build the background for a shot so I bought this terrain pack from gumroad 3D Mountain Asset kit: 3D Mountain Asset kit: European Alps +Free-Download (gumroad.com)

As you can see through the link it comes with lots of masks so that you can apply your own textures to different sections of the model (If you scroll down on link there is a video that demonstrates what I am tryin to do). Is there a way to do this in houdini??

I tried using the heightfield quickshade node but as it is not a heightfield the masks will not work.

Sorry if it's a dumb question, only been learing for about 6 months and I am yet to deal with environment related things. If anyone knows how to do this or where to learn then any help is really apprieciated.

The Terrain files are .obj and the textures are .exr

Hope this makes sense if any clarification is needed please let me know. Thanks for any help!

:)
