Their primary responsibility is to create and improve efficient, artist-friendly workflows. As a technical problem-solver, the R&D TD will participate in design work, at least peripherally, across the breadth of the entire pipeline. Although the main focus of the R&D TD is on strategic, reusable workflow development, an FX TD will be called on to deliver elements when necessary. This is a position with a focus on character and environmental effects. We are looking for an experienced engineer with an artistic bent or an artist with a strong technical bent, with a solid track record and proven development skill. This position requires a good understanding of natural phenomenon, particle systems, procedural modeling/animation, and other similar effects. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: * Work with production supervisors to translate art direction into deliverable effects * Design and implement effect systems and processes * Work with the education group to develop training materials and documentation * Troubleshoot production problems, and work to minimize their impact * Seek out and implement new technologies and techniques that will benefit production * Ensure software development follows studio standards and conventions Minimum Qualifications and Abilities: * 3+ years of computer animated feature film experience * Experience (2+ years) with dynamics simulations and procedural modeling/animation * Experience (2+ years) scripting in Python, Hscript, C++, and MEL * Experience (1+ years) working in Linux * Experience working with Maya and Houdini * Proven track record of creative solutions to highly technical problems * Ability to work on a team and independently follow up on direction * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Attention to detail Preferred Abilities and Knowledge: * Experience with tool integration into a production pipeline * Shader writing and API development If interested in this full time position, which offers full benefits and relocation package, please send a resume to Pamela Thompson, Recruiter, Ideas to Go, PamRecruit@q.com Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
