A simple cog with a VEX metal shader on it and an HDR as the env map and a VEX Super Material on a plane that uses transparency to cut some of the plane out. The transparency works fine on the plane, but in the reflection still shows the plane. I have attached the files. I'm not home right now so I can't look at your file but if I understand your question corectly i'd say.... did you use a black/white image for the transparency? if so, use that same image as a reflection map and it'll eliminate the reflections where your object is transparent.
