shoephone
Ok, I feel like a bit of a fool...having just bought a new video card for the old desktop, and while I was at it, a new power supply, case, motherboard - well a whole new computer because I thought houdini wasn't running on my P4 2.4Ghz, 1GB RAM laptop. (enough of the jabbering man!! what are the settings!!) - OpenGL anti-aliasing is disabled - HOUDINI_OGL_DBL_BUFFER_FIX set to 1 Now if you are like me, you're wondering what/where the OGL options are set. HA! Read it in the SESI forum. It's a windows thang, not a houdini thang or a driver thang. - right-click on My Computer - click on properties - click on the Advanced tab - click on the Environment Settings button (win2k, middle/winXP bottom) - under System Variables, click the New button - put in HOUDINI_OGL_DBL_BUFFER_FIX for the variable name and 1 for the value - click OK, then apply, etc, etc.. Some say reboot before starting up Houdini again. I didn't and the change was applied. No more system lockups on window resize, switching to smooth shaded mode, etc. SWEET. So I've got this great GeForce4 4200 Ti 128 MB system for sale...
