Point Instancing

Recommended Posts

Say, there is a particle system in object A.

Every particle has Scale, UpVector, ID attribute.

If i switch object A to Point Inctance mode and choose object B

as an inctance, then during render process Houdini replaces

every particle with object B and scales it

according to $PSCALE attribute.

BUT! It does not rotate them according UpVector, though docs say it should:

"If an up vector exists for the particles,

it will be used to orient the instanced geometry.

You create and control up vectors for particles by using a Point SOP."

So what am i doing wrong?

Say, object B contains only a Bounding box,

while it is switched to Bounded File(BBox from render SOP) mode,

where a special application is called as a file which

generate object dynamically.

So is it possible to transfer particle's parameters

(for which application is called) like Scale,ID,Current Time

to this application as arguments ?
