  1. Thanks everybody The bounding box did the trick! Cheers
  2. Hi aracid. Many thanks. The video link was posted it the character forum in the skinwrap thread. I tried the method you described and it worked very nice. Only problem is that the grid(cloth) is very rubber-like ,draping 4-5 times its own length. I reduced the gravity force up to -0.2 and set tension up to 400 but it still behaves the same way. Thanks again and cheers (and get a good rest )
  3. Hi everybody. While watching the skinwrap modifier video from discreet I wanted to recreate the simple cloth behaviour (ball goes forward pushing curtain mesh) that is shown there. After trying a few things that obviously didn't work I'd like to ask if anybody can help on this. I'm sure its verry simple but ... Thanks.
  4. There is a Skinwrap HDA in the exchange now. Thanks Simon.
  5. Hi I recently watched Tokyo Godfathers and there was s Steamboy trailer in the DVD. It looked awesome. I especially liked its visual style (nice music too). I certainly hope it makes more sense than Akira did .
  6. Hi Rei Thanks for the info and the link.Checking it now.The only way to watch it would be to buy the dvd though. Might do it. It's worth it ,at least, for it's music.
  7. Hi That sounds very nice. It seems a good way of bundling keys together for a pose(snapshot) editor ...
  8. Hi Steven Thanks ,it's clearer now(I think). Is it possible to have keys from different frames in the same time group? Even if it's not it still is very usefull workflow-wise. Thanks & cheers
  9. Hi everyone. I was exploring the channel editor and I came upon time groups. It seemed interesting enough for some further investigation but information in the documentation is sparse and vague .There are descriptions of how to create ,manipulate , remove ,etc time groups but I can't find a definition of the term. Any info on this? Thanks & cheers.
  10. The first time I read that I thought you were talking about the hdk that comes with Houdini Apprentice(don't ask why) and I was just staring at the screen for a whole minute(while I was thinking "Does not compute - Does not compute"). Considering that the free version of the ms compiler doesn't link code with dll's then it's pretty much useless for anything more complicated than a "hello world" prog.I had to know better than that. It's MS after all .
  11. Hi I am considering writing a ROP as well for my custom mini renderer. A good place to get started is the HDK documentation. If you are developing for win32 then you need the Microsoft compiler (there is a free version somewhere on the ms site I think). I don't know of any resources specific to writing a ROP but I presume you must be a little bit fluent in C++. I think the HDK is pretty well designed so it shouldn't be too hard finding your way around. There are a couple of examples for a custom output operator in the examples section of the toolkit as well. Please post any tips you may come along because I'm also very interested in this . Cheers
  12. Thanks thekenny I didn't know the break tie functionality existed. Just did a quick test and it is just what I wanted!
  13. Hi Just to get my terminology right, what is a segment? Is it the part of the curve that resides between two keys or another name for the whole curve? If it is the former , is it possible to set the function of the curve (segment in that case) between two keys to a different type than the segment before it or after it? For example say I have 3 keys on tx. Is it possible to set the curve between the 1st-2nd keys to constant() and between 2nd-3d keys to cubic(). I've tried doing it but the whole channel curve gets converted. Maybe there is a not so obvious way to to that?
  14. Thank you very much for the reply.
  15. Hi everyone. I am currently a user of Houdini Apprentice and I must say I'm hooked! I was considering buying a version of Houdini when I get a little more experienxe with it. Since I doubt I'll be working in a studio (3D is in the stone age where I live ) Houdini Escape looks like the most attractive option , pricewise that is. Although I've searched a lot in forum's and Sesi home page I didn't find any information on Escape's scripting abilities. Is Hscript functional in Escape? Could someone use ,say,Java for Gui's or other functions? Sorry about the large post and thanks in advance.
