peja_
hello, when i go into point selection mode with a simple grid, i get gizmo that looks like this http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1911899/houdini1.jpg and that is ok. but, when i do it with a tube, i get something like this http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1911899/houdini2.jpg it looks ugly and it seems it is viewable only from certain points of view this is what i see if i rotate the view just a little bit (i didn't touch anything else) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1911899/houdini3.jpg (it can be even worse from some other angles) how do i fix this? can it always be as in pic #1? thanks Edited December 2, 2009 by peja_
graham
The problem is that you have non-uniform Object level scales on your geometry and haven't readjusted your viewport to take that into account. If you hit the H key inside your scaled object it should reset your viewport and everything should appear normal. You will of course have to hit H again when you jump back out since your viewport will now be funny because you homed inside the scaled object. peja_
nope, it's not reseting it...its always the same but you are right about the problem - it is because of the scaling. i tried right now to 'over scale' that tube and my z axis manipulator is now huge. i'm just unable to reset it...any other way maybe? and thanks for super-fast reply
graham
Not sure then. When I scale a tube non-uniformly and then dive in, Space + H to home resets things fine for me. A way to avoid this is of course to not scale it at the object level and do it using a Transform SOP. Not sure what else to suggest.
peja_
yeah, it works fine with transform sop...well, good enough i guess thanks
edward
You could have had the Transform SOP added automatically if you used the Modify > Freeze shelf tool with your object selected.
