The image below is clay materials on standard mantra metal with (reflect: 0.3 diffuse:0.2) You can see the disappearing black reflection. I understand it's quite natural since the calculation would be, ( diffuse value : above zero ) + ( reflective, raytrace or trace value : zero ) I wanna build my own reflective shader to resolve this additive process. crunch Posted January 2, 2010 Share Posted January 2, 2010 If you put a big white environment sphere, I think you'd see the black sphere show up (due to occlusion of the background). Since you have a black background (i.e. nothing picked up in missed rays), the black sphere is blending perfectly with the background. Does that make sense?
