breadbox
Im new to houdini so im not sure all the options available to me. what I'm trying to do is make slices in a grid thats been deformed with a mountain. pretty simple. my process is to create the grid - mountain - copy with input from metaball - convert meta using the slice operator. this works pretty well except the metaballs sort of get real blobby and I loose resolution on the original mesh. I can set to a really small metaball but then Id have to use and insane number of points to get the them to blob together. so my question is to figure out if there is a way to bybass the mtball and go straight to the slicing. because the mountain has prety much what im looking for resolution wise but i want to make it more stylized. you can see the original mountain has good res http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg54/bradonwebb/mountain.jpg the metaball mountan gets too bloby http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg54/bradonwebb/metaBlob.jpg this is the overall effect that im going for but with many more slices and much more detail in the individual curves. http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg54/bradonwebb/MountainTest.jpg
