Rvb
Hi all, I was wondering what the difference would be between processors and ram. I've attached a scene with two mantra nodes. My render time is: Normal: 4.07 min High: 11.35 min Specs: Core2duo 2.4ghz & 4gb ram Hope some of you guys can show off your rendertimes ^^ mantra_render_time.zip
DaJuice
Hi Rogier. Normal: 1:07 High: 3:06 i5-750 2.6ghz quad-core, 8GB RAM I reduced the bucket size to 64 which cut the render-time in Normal by half. It was too big and cores were sitting idle while the last bucket finished.
Lutze
Hi Rogier, Normal: 35sec High: 1min 32sec System: Dual Quadcore Xeon 2.4Ghz, 12GB Ram I also reduced the bucket size (to 16 even) which which seemed to give the best result. Mario Marengo
H11.0.503 generates tons of runtime VEX "Unknown Parameter" and "Undefined Symbol" warnings, which I ignored (something wonky with the UI for the mantra surface SHOP) Bucket size reduced to 32 for optimum CPU usage. Specs: i7-950 3.07 GHz, 8-core, 12GB RAM normal: 44.83 high: 1:57.74 But... I think you'd normally go with PBR (instead of RT) for this kind of thing, and here's why: PBR_normal: 29.34 PBR_high: 60.08 The hipfile with the PBR versions of "normal" and "high": test2.hip
3__
AMD PhenomII x4 965 3.4GHz, 4G o' RAM, H11.0.490, Vista x64 SP2 Normal = 1.24 min High = 3.40 min Mario's PBR: Normal = 1.10 min High = Exit code -1073740940 ... converted teapot to polys, then: High = 1.49 min
Rvb
Ohhh I need a new pc! Currently rendering from a laptop.. Does anyone know how the amazon cloud renders are? Are they fast? To bad I don't have a quick workstation... Would make modeling and rendering much funnier
