viezel
Hi all I have played for a while with the Voronoi fracture in H11. One thing that I miss is the possiblity to create a fracture map and use it to define the initial fracture. I created an OTL (fracture1.jpg) to import a image file and create a point group from all the black pixels in stone.jpg. That works great, but how do I apply these point to the voronoi fracture node? it would be great if I could define the fracture pieces from the jpg. Any suggestions would be great! thanks
Ryan
I played around with this recently, but wasn't able to get a perfect solution yet. I have attached a file with my attempt. Maybe it can help you. Adding more divisions and using finer lines may help too. textureBreak.hip

Ryan
An even better version. Maybe easier to understand and cleans up extra points. It should work with any "fracture map" now. textureBreak_v03.hip
viezel
so I tried yours, but I could not get it to work.. how do you do that? Can you explain how you build it and what is does. I tried to work with mine as well, it works.. but its slow, and I can not figure out how to do it in 3D.. right now, the nap is only at one side of the 3d mesh. cheers fracturemap-v4.hip Edited December 17, 2010 by viezel
viezel
I should mention, that when using a invert map, black bg and white fracture map, mine works.. like this one.

Ryan
I am not sure if it will work with 3D objects. I am only using an orthographic UV texture. Here are the results I get using my method with your maps. I just inverted the other one...
