Is there a way to make certain polygons have a "matte" kind of

I have one object that has 2 surfaces: the inside of the mouth and the outside of the mouth. Is there a way to render the object wherein the inside of the mouth acts like a matte? I know I can make it act like matte during render if it's 2 separate objects, but what about if it's just a single object?
