Hi

I am building a custom material. I want my material to respond well to the gilights. I might even try to build custom light loop. I am wondering if someone can provide me some basic considerations for such cases.

thanks

if you build your lighting with the 'direct lighting' and 'indirect lighting' vops everything will work and be awesome. these vops use the new multiple importance stuff from h11 so area light sampling is much faster than using 'old school' illuminance loops (which are almost 100% obsolete now for mantra/prman imo).
