I like it, and it's a cool trick... but something feels off about it. I'm not sure if it is the low friction between the balls and the surface or the fact that the springs have only one degree of freedom. Probably the springs thing. They should do more than just push in and out like a locked piston. Other than that it is really cool.

That´s very cool! the whole thing is a cloth object? interesting...watching the final thing I would have though it was something using spring constrains, but it is probably much easier to setup the way you did it.

So, let me guess: you simulated on the final thing without the springs and then you copied the spring shapes into the lines?

Thanks, it's even easier: i used a sphere and made it a elastic cloth object, then used the points of that sphere to instance the white spheres. For the "springs" i used the centroid of the big sphere to calculate the normal for the points so they point to the middle and the distance between the two points to know the length of the spirals that i copysopped to them. It's true what Adam said that they don't bend but i guess that could be added in a next version rather easily. It was just a quick little experiment.
