Theatre Screen getting punch through - Cloth?

Hi All,

I have been bashing rigid objects up quite nicely now. I now need to punch through the center of a theatre screen. More soft deformation, where there is a tear in the cloth.

I have a RBD outside frame work for the theatre screen with 3x7 panel set up. The wrecking ball (flying object) hits the middle & bottom 3 panels. I feel that these would be more fabric type. I setup the scene and ran the simulation and have the middle top panel follow my sphere and the others did nothing. I realized that I needed to constrain the top edge, but only could figure out to constrain the complete outer edge of each panel.

The question would be how to bust through the center of the 2x3 panel setup and keep the outside edges locked and tear the inner edges?

Thinking ahead, what about adding tear lines? Say from the point of impact - I can do this with a RBD plane set up, could you transfer that over so that the cloth would tear along those lines that I built?

Thank you

Chris

I went ahead and created what I needed - here is a sample scene.

I don't understand why I have 2 sets of geometry being cloth. One of course deforming quite nicely and the other, well is rigid. I don't understand why.

Anyone take a look and explain where the rigid surfaces are coming from and why?

Thank you

Chris

Fantastic! That was it. When I change my focus, I miss buttons!

It turns out with tearing cloth I do not need to fracture the panels that I want to blow through!

I got the theatre screen blowing out!

Now to combine this with RBD fo the structure blowing apart I have winner!

Thank you

Chris
