We just posted two new webinars on our website at www.sidefx.com/webinars

The first is called "Going Procedural" webinar which is for artists new to Houdini and the second is a re-run of the "Houdini in Games" webinar. These webinars are meant to be introductions to Houdini's procedural approach and we are asking for your help in spreading the word to new users. If you have a colleague, friend or family member who is someone who could benefit from knowing more about Houdini then please send them over to these online events.

Thanks in advance for helping us grow the Houdini community.

hey robert, i watched your presentation for the lighting webinar. while much of the content is aimed toward someone who does not not houdini at all, i did find

some of your approaches during the actual lighting scene useful.

i hadn't seen your use of the ROP merge before. i'd always just linked one to the other.

also, i'd forgotten how useful light attenuation is to limit the effect of a given light and how much that speeds renders.

lastly, i'd not seen the portal light used on a virtual backdrop before. i've always used blast to created an exact polygon to fill the window space.

thank for the vid robert!

:)

I had a similar experience, I was listening/half watching it at work and Rob demoed the camera handle for focus. I reacted: seriously! Why didn't I discover that before! :P. You don't wane know how many times I've been randomly dialing numbers while waiting for the render view to update, hoping I got closer this time :P. Guess I'm not using the RMB so often on the viewport.

Ow and: * ^/obj/cube01, meaning everything but this object, didn't know about that one :-)

Tnx! Rob
