well, I think you should start studying DOPs, and it's not very basic, so if you just started using Houdini, maybe you should study some more basic stuff first, and then move to pyro tools and fluid. Although for a quick start, you can use the shelf tools for pyro and smoke!

Hey Hyeji, if you want to do explosion and fire effects I recommend that you learn about fields, volumes, and the Dops details view. It is important to understand that data flows differently in dops than in sops.
