Ezz
Hi folks. I have a few questions about the new alembic fileformat just to better understand its use etc. I guess Houdini 11.1 does the explanation, but I have not had the chance to try it yet. Is Alembic a geoCache-format rather than a fileformat? I like to know if its possible to use alembic with geometry that has changing topology - lets say a tearing clothsimulation, shatter, etc.? Cheers Erik

Ezz
Hi Mats. Yeah I did some reading here and there. I found a thread on SI-community regarding alembic for Softimage: http://www.si-community.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1768&p=13003 So what I understand its like a *.obj format that can be used as a sequence. But I must take the time to install Houdini 11.1nc and give it a spin with Maya2012 SAP. Cheers Erik

I would also take a look at the source code and the example found here: http://code.google.com/p/alembic/downloads/list Mats
