problem with black render after merge SOP

Hi all Houdini users

I have tried to merge 2 SOP to combine them together but after the plug in the merge node one of it turn into black after render test.

I have tested with differences sop like the Default BOX sop and merged it with my model ,the result is still the same the box SOP turn into black after render. however its rendered with noproblem if the other SOP i have merged with is a NURB surface.

Please help me out and clarify my issues.

It usually renders fine even with those errors. All it means is that the two objects merged don't have the same set of attributes which shouldn't affect the render too much. Hard to say more without a hip file.

Are both objects that you merge polygon surfaces?

yes, both are polygon surfaces.

** i have used the bridge polygon asset to help with modeling aswell ,am not sure is it the problem.so i have attachmented them together in these files

You forgot to lock or include the tiff file that you use for tracing.

i could not upload the trace file due to the file type is not allow in this forum. however ,its even turned black if I tried to merge it with defualt box SOP. i believed the problem must be somewhere in my machine hand part of my model. :/

I figured it out with the Box. It was fairly simple.

Just add a Facet SOP before the Merge and tick Pre-Compute normals and you are good to go.

PS. You can lock a File node so that it's content is saved with the hip file. Then you don't need to upload it separately. DS
