TheUsualAlex
Does anyone here have any experience with Cyslice? Especially those of you from SideFX? I really wish that Houdini would have some kind of equivalent...
Jason
I think that Cyslice is a very specialised and clever tool and if you need such functionality, then why not purchase such a tool? Right now its outputs can be used with any product; Maya/Houdini/whatever. The displacement-map generation from a reduced surface from a high-res model, or the extraction of a subdivision cage from a model are all very nice features I'll admit, but I think its great Cyslice remains a standalone and has not been incarnated as a Maya or Lightwave plugin or such. We've used it extensively on few shows (not me) and have been happy with the results on the whole. Of course it'd be great to have these features inside of Houdini, but I personally would prefer to see Dynamics and such tools in Houdini before this. Guest alex
bah. Just wanted some fun toys in Houdini to play with. Actually, the fast curve fitting and extraction from poly model to nurbs patch model is probably something nice to have in Houdini modeling toolset. Granted, Houdini can do a lot of these type of things already, but it's probably more painful than necessary. But then again, I don't know. Dynamics remained to be one of the major things to be seen.
