goped
Hi! I have and Idea and I spend a week tring to figure it out how to do it, but fail at the very first step, so i decided to post it here and find a way with you all. I work in archicad and there is really hard way to make a grass, no grass maker, no instances, and you can use only gdl object to place it and power down your computer. I know artlantis can place some grass, i know i can export it to 3ds or anything else, but not all of us know how to use other CG programs. I render using Maxwell Render and with 2.6 release it can handle VDM. I've seen many uses of VDM and i know it can create XYZ objects while render. Ofcourse grass can be make with normal displacement map, but all blades are straight because we have only XY space. Know problem for me is that i can;t make VDM for grass, i tried to use mudbox and 3dcoat but i can;t madel it, i wanted to use *.obj model to make it, tried and fail one time after another. Finally i decided to post here for help. If this work as i expect with properly created VDM it could look more natural, and for me in archicad it would only need to place a material on slab or mesh and Maxwell would make a grass for me using displacement. I know it is comp consuming but they said in release note that it work with new tesselation algorithm and it build model befor render put it into ram and there render like it was and object modeled in program, so its renders like i would put the grass like instance or whatever. So i hope someone of you could help me make this grass finally, because i;ve spend a lot of time on this task and it beat me... Thanks for help !
